DESCRIPTION
Our school is looking for a volunteer for a period of 9 months, starting October 2024, who wants to participate in the activities at our school. The volunteer’ s job will be to participate in classes and actions around the school.
– Participation in school class activities
– Participate in the newspaper and radio project of the school
– Pedagogical and language support to children in language classes, mostly English and German
– Use of the etwinning plateform with a group of pupils ( Erasmus projects)
– Taking pictures and making films for distribution on the school’s webpage
– Participate in actions like the school second hand shop – Project planning and implementation of own initiatives about solidarity projects in cooperation with other volunteers
– Participation to midday and lunch activities (with teacher’s help)
– Individual smaller projects of personal interest
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
The volunteer will be accommodated in the school in a furnished apartment together with another volunteer or language assistant, sharing the kitchen, bathroom, toilet and washing facilities. The building is within the school, but the volunteer has the codes to get in and out. A bus stop is right in front of the school, free and easy access to the city center. Possibility to have lunch at the school canteen or cook for himself/herself. Small office with computer at the disposal of the volunteer
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
Volunteers participate in an on-arrival and a mid-term training organized by the France National Agency. In addition, volunteers participle in three regional trainings with other volunteers from different hosting organizations : 3 days on arrival, 1 day mid-term and 2 days before departure. Volunteers have the opportunity to learn French by using the online platform or have French lessons in the IMEP, in Bourges.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
We accept applications from young people from the age of 18 – 30 years.
We expect that you have finished your high school education.
Experience with working with children is advantageous, though not required.
The volunteer’s personal skills & interests will be considered and an individual time schedule will be made together with the volunteer.
We expect that the volunteer will actively participate in and be committed to the assignments and activities they are assigned to and that they will cooperate with all staff and also are willing to learn French.
